Bachata
After decades of segregation as music of “low-class” society, the bachata had a renaissance in the 80’s when Juan Luis Guerra y la 440 launched their successful album Bachata Rosa. One of the most known features of this music genre is that it embodies the feelings of the working class- its stories of love, pain, alcoholism, affairs, friendships, betrayal, etc. With roots in bolero and son, bachata is, along with merengue, a representative of traditional Dominican Republic’s music. Artists such as: Antony Santos, Joe Veras, Frank Reyes, Raulin Rodríguez and Zacarias Ferreira can be found here.

Flamenco
The exact origin of flamenco is unknown. The most popular theory is that this music came to life in the region of Andalucia, Spain, through the gypsy community that had been influenced, in its many trips, by cultures as such as: Roman, Arabic, Jewish, etc. What is not doubt is that nothing distinguish the Madre Patria as the singing, the dance, the clapping, the castanets, and the guitar riffs of Flamenco music. In our station you can listen to the classics (Gipsy Kings, Carmen Amaya, Paco de Lucia) and the contemporary (Ketama, Nina Pastori).

Tango
This rhythm, made famous by Carlos Gardel, is the embodiment of passion and nostalgia. Though it originated in Buenos Aires at the end of the nineteenth century, there is something about the Tango that still captivates hearts of people around the world. In Batanga's Tango station we have the great tango classics as well as the sounds of Modern Tango, introduced by composer Astor Piazzola.

Jazz
Of all the post-swing styles of jazz, Latin jazz has been the most consistently popular and it is easy to see why. The emphasis on percussion and Cuban rhythms make the style quite danceable and accessible. Essentially, it is a mixture of bop-oriented jazz with Latin percussion.
