Biography

Soda Stereo was formed in 1982 with the union of Gustavo Cerati, Zeta Bosio, and Charly Alberti.  The band started off in the Argentine underground music circuit, playing alongside the likes of other emerging acts such as Sumo, Los Twist, and Melero in venues like Zero, Einstein & Stud Bar.

On December 14, 1984, Soda Stereo debuted their self-titled album, produced by Virus lead singer, Frederico Moura.   In June of 1988, with production assistance from Carlos Amolar; a guitarist who had worked with John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger, David Bowie and James Brown among others, the band recorded Doble Vida.  In 1989 they achieved their first million albums sold, and began touring in the United States.   In January of 1990, after a long hiatus from the Argentine rock scene, Soda Stereo returned for a concert in the Velez Sarsfield stadium alongside British rock duo, Tears For Fears.

The band continued to tour and released several more albums throughout the 1990s.  In 1997, Soda Stereo decided to split.  They played their final concert on September 20th of that year in the River Plate stadium of Buenos Aires.

Ten years later, the group played a very successful reunion tour throughout the US & Latin America.
