Biography

For more than 4 decades, Vicente Fernández has been the most important and influential living ranchera singer in the world.  He has been cherished by millions of people of all ages and socioeconomic backgrounds and has released over 80 albums, selling millions of copies.  He has received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and was inducted into the Billboard Latin Music Hall of Fame for his contributions to the musical genre.

Vicente Fernández is a man of humble beginnings.  He was born on  February 17, 1940 in Jalisco, Mexico. He lived the trials and tribulations of the poorest of families, to the extent of creating a home-made incubator with a house lamp for his first-born, Vicente Jr.   Vicente got his start when he won a Guadalajara singing contest.  At age 21, he was in the show “La Calandria Musical” where he received his first payment for singing.  The same year, Fernández decided to make his living by singing. The fame and fortune he enjoys now are a just reward for the days when he worked as a farm hand during the day and at night as a strolling musician. His recordings read like a list of the hottest songs of the century, including worldwide favorites like "Volver, Volver," "El Rey," "Las Llaves de Mi Alma," "De Un Rancho a Otro," "El Hijo del Pueblo," "De Que Manera Te Olvido," "Nos Estorbo La Ropa," "Aqui El Que Manda Soy Yo," "Me Voy a Quitar de En Medio," "Bohemio de Aficion," "Sublime Mujer," "La Ley del Monte," "La Misma," and many, many more.
