¡Ahora sí! Los Tucanes of old burst back on to the music scene with some no-holds-barred corridos after a one-year hiatus from this forbidden style of music. Corridos’ illicit lyrics and unlawful subject matter are prohibited in Mexico but find controversial refuge in the U.S., where the music sells like hotcakes. Regardless of the controversy, narratives like the ones told here tell real-life stories and serve more as a form of entertainment, very much like a feature film or good novel with the same plots. Mario Quintero Lara, lead vocalist, pens all 14 tracks from the hard-stance protest song about the illegal immigration issue to conceited tales of adventure and revelry. After a musical dry spell, it was time for a return to their forte to remind us who it was that brought the corrido to mainstream: El Papá De Los Pollitos.
