Alejandro Fernández
(Sony Discos)

by Maricarmen Garduño-Blackwell
AGST 2006
This CD was recorded at Sony Music Studios in NY, Arrowhead Studios in CA, and other studio locations with producers Kike Santander, Aurelio Baqueiro, Milton Salcedo and Daniel Betancourt. The overall beat is slow, with romantic songs, and songs that make us cry. Each song has its own rhythm; you will hear a mix of Spanish guitars, trumpets, electric guitars, and piano; and The Miami Symphonic Strings joined Fernández on “Para Vivir,” “Si Alguna Vez,” “Dame Un Minuto” and, “Muy Lejos De Ti.” There is no doubt Alejandro has an excellent voice — masculine with a lot of sex appeal —nevertheless, there’s nothing exciting here, except for the bonus salsa version of “Me dediqué a perderte.”
