Adolfo Urias

Following his tenure with Los Marineros del Norte, Adolfo Urias kick-started his own Conjunto Lobo Norteño in 2001. Five years and seven albums later, we arrive at Rebelde Enamorado, another installment of stories about drunken heartache, bass lines that rattle your insides and pure unadulterated accordion & saxophone-driven parranda. Adolfo’s bold vocal tone is a good contrast against the jovial and the prevailing norteño arrangements christened in the fun-loving state of Chihuahua. Keeping with the formula they had when nominated for the Revelación del Año (Best New Artist) award for Premios Lo Nuestro in 2003, Lobo Norteño has sequentially built on the success of each release to assemble its own library of signature records. The whirlwind of rancheras, cumbias and balseadas are fittingly summed up in the album title, Rebel in Love. Urias is definitely carving out a place in the Mt. Rushmore of “norteño con sax” greats.
