Gustavo Laureano has a gift for writing catchy hooks but on Kingcallero Del Amor he makes the mistake of solely relying on that. The La Secta All Star frontman kick-starts with the funky “La Novela” but then dabs his solo debut with generic reggaeton, dance and pop. In “Nadie Te Va A Salvar” the confused rocker doesn’t know whether to rip off Gary Glitter’s “Rock and Roll” or Depeche Mode’s “Personal Jesus.” El Quincallero falls short of selling any quality merchandise.
