“The King of Mexican Pop” reins again with this colorful eleven-track CD that includes elements of danzón, mariachi, vallenato, flamenco, and even British pop. Among Syntek’s guests are the Latin-pop sweethearts Jesse y Joy (“¿Quién Soy?”), Mexican synth-pop band Belanova (“Laberinto”), alternative rocker Chetes (“Entra”), and producer Joe Chicarelli (Elton John, White Stripes). As always, Syntek managed to put together an album that is commercially friendly yet intelligent and sophisticated. Can’t wait for the English album. (Yes! There will be an English album!)
