Johansen makes music that cuts across cultural lines, but it isn’t quite “world.” It’s fresher, funkier, funnier… Shifting back and forth between English, Spanish, and Spanglish Johansen brings a colorful array of musical styles like milonga, murga, son, cumbia, folk, country, and pop. Highlights are “Oh My Love My Love” (feat. Andrea Echeverri of Aterciopelados,) the catchy cumbia “Chica Rolinga,” and the hilarious electro-pop “S.O.S Fashion (Emergency).” The disappointment? Some of the tracks are too short. Still, it’s delicious, delightful!
